First Thursdays, hosted in Franklin, is a small gathering of women from across Middle Tennessee. Curated by a treasured voice of enthusiastic curiosity, each month a different speaker facilitates a discussion on a topic within her own expertise or exploratory habits. Guests are asked to read selected articles or books in order to come to the discussion having thought and learned about the night's topic. It is a wonderful space of shared learning and open conversation on a variety of topics, from aging to poverty to rest. This month Dr. Brandi Kellett returns, one year after she first led us in discussing racial myths and memories in the South. Dr. Kellett will guide us as we discuss the tensions we sense, helping us discover the blocks that prevent us from connecting with and appreciating others.
